Abstract
In this study, fine lead zirconate titanate (PZT) fibers were produced by sol-gel process. The processing conditions of PZT fibers from sol-gel solution were studied in detail. Processing parameters such as, gelation additives, gelation time and fiber drawing time have been determined. After obtaining optimum conditions, dense and crack free fine PZT fibers were fabricated with 30-40 cm in length and 10-50 micrometer in diameter. Piezocomposites were prepared by embedding the fibers into an epoxy matrix.
