Abstract :
ALS-MAC is a medium access control protocol for sensor networks based on location aware nodes. This paper extends the functionality of ALS-MAC with an extra mode. T-mode is incorporated to transport data from children to a parent in consistence with a routing tree. ALS-MAC modifies the tree to save energy via aggregated packets. Also, considering multihop optimization under ALS-MAC, we proved that any node located in a certain area can be successfully employed to partition the communication link. Simulation results showed that ALS-MAC has a significant advantage for short distances over the beacon-advertise-transmit model.
