Abstract
In this paper we propose a new mobicast routing protocol, called SA-Mobicast, in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Mobicast is a spatiotemporal multicast routing protocol. Mobicast protocols were designed to support the forwarding zone that moves at a constant velocity, v, through sensor networks. The new SA-mobicast routing protocol is a simulated annealing based routing protocol in which we have a primary set of solutions to determine the size of forwarding zone. Each node uses simulated annealing algorithm to select the best solution from the set. SA-mobicast is a power efficient protocol. This effect is mainly achieved by using an adaptive and distributed protocol without having any global knowledge about network. Finally, simulation results illustrate performance enhancement in message overhead, average of slack time, and power consumption, comparing with exiting mobicast routing protocols.
