Abstract :
This paper presents a novel converter configuration using a rectifier with near sinusoidal input currents. The converter is based on a RNSIC -1 topology having DC capacitors connected in parallel with the diodes. The research has been focused on load current variations. The main advantages of the proposed method consist of increased efficiency, lower EMI, low harmonic input currents, better reliability and more competitive costs. The original version can be used as well in the case of small hydro interconnection with induction generator (SCIG) and cvasi-variable speed wind turbine (~60-100% sync speed).
