Abstract :
An on-line dead-time compensation scheme of pulse width modulated voltage source inverter (PWM VSI) for surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SMPMSM) drive is proposed. Due to the dead-time effect and the voltage drop in the switching devices, the relation between the reference and the output voltage reveals nonlinear characteristic. This voltage difference between the reference and the output voltage invokes current waveform distortion and deterioration of performance. In the proposed compensation scheme, an inverse dynamic model is utilized and disturbance voltages are observed on-line to compensate the voltage difference without any additional circuits or off-line experimental measurements. The observed disturbance voltages are fed back to the voltage reference for compensation. The proposed compensation scheme is implemented with a DSP TMS320F2812 and the effectiveness of the proposed scheme was shown with experimental results.
