Abstract
The proposed Federal Standard 1070 (pFS 1070) concerns fiber-size standardization for use in the backbone portion of the building wiring standard for commercial enterprises. A draft pFS 1070 entitled 62.5/125-μm Graded-Index, Multimode Optical Fiber Waveguides for On-Premises Applications was drawn up, but a multimode-fiber detail specification, was found to have been drawn up previously. This detail specification has nearly completed review and approval by the EIA (Electronic Industries Association). When it does, it is expected to be adopted as Federal Standard 1070
