Abstract :
CO2 emissions from the Chinese transport sector are a growing problem. Highway geometric design is an important part of low carbon roads. Firstly, the factors that influenced CO2 emission of a road was analysed in this paper, and the gradient is the most significant. Considering proportion of vehicle type, coefficients together with speed, vehicle type and traffic, the CO2 emission model of a road based on the gradient was established. Furthermore, the function was analysed with the mathematic method, and then the optimal gradient 2%-3% of the neutral road was received . At last, in order to make the calculation of the model to be more convenient, a simple calculated-software was programmed of it. The CO2 emission of a highway which length is 16km was calculated using it.
