Abstract
Optical fibers and electro-optic components are currently under consideration for use in fiber based systems which must operate in the natural space and adverse nuclear environments. This paper presents the current status of radiation effects on fiber and electro-optic components, and discusses the associated damage mechanisms from electron, proton, neutron, x-ray and gamma ray radiation environments
