Abstract :
Discusses the transmission of video over mobile radio channels. The paper investigates specific error protection techniques including shortened Reed Solomon codes and synchronisation words. The paper begins with a description of the compression standard MPEG-4 and its subset H.263, the latter being the method of compression used in the simulations. A brief overview of some features of TETRA is given and the effects of different types of errors on the decoded video sequence are discussed
