Abstract :
Virtual reality is a computer technology that can be used to simulate the real world. Recently, VR technology has been increasingly used in urban planning and design, large-scale scene modelling and human-computer interaction. Particularly, some weather phenomena like rain, snow, fog exit in most 3D virtual scenes, virtual city tourism, weather forecast simulation and disaster prevention for instance. Actually, they are all composed by a large number of particles that distribute according to certain rules. In order to strengthen realistic rendering effect, we mainly focus on the research of above weather phenomenon simulations based on OSG particle system. Using particle system modules defined in OSG, all kinds of weather phenomenon simulations can be generated and added to relevant 3D virtual scenes easily. Finally, a large-scale complicated urban walkthrough system and a simple interface are mentioned for the next application.
