Abstract
In order to improve the quality of the simplified mesh model, this paper proposes an algorithm that takes advantage of the vertex vision importance to simplify the mesh based on quadric measurement error. It adopts visual importance of vertex factor, the curvature at the vertex and the texture error factor in the cost function to control the sequence of half-edge collapse, which is usable to retain good visual characteristics of the original model in the simplify process. Through experimental comparison and analysis, it shows that the algorithm is effective in improving the quality of the simplified model and can maintain some good visual characteristics of the original model.
