Abstract :
This paper deals with the study of conical convergent electron gun for X-band linear accelerator tube in which the shapes of electrodes are determined with the help of finite element and iterative techniques, whereas, the output parameters are determined with the help of analytical technique. For the application of finite element method, the functional is calculated with the help of Poissonpsilas equation in the form of two-dimensional axially symmetric spherical coordinates (r, thetas). A computer program is developed for this purpose and the resulting electrode shapes are shown. With the knowledge of electrode shapes and output parameters, all required parts of electron gun are designed.
