Abstract :
MAP symbol decoding supplemented with iterative decoding is used to mitigate the intrachannel nonlinearities. The MAP detector operates on the channel trellis to correct the corrupted data and to provide soft outputs processed further in an iterative decoder. A dramatic performance improvement is demonstrated.
