Abstract :
Recent advances in monolithic technology point out the need for simple and accurate CAD modeling of microstrip discontinuities. The paper presents a new lumped equivalent circuit for the microstrip cross-junction element. The model, based an a planar analysis of rectangular patches, overcomes the limitations in geometry and/or frequency constraints and the inaccuracy of presently available approaches. A comparison with experiments and simulation results achieved through present models of commercial CAD packages confirms the validity of the proposed approach and the improvements implied by the use of the developed lumped model.
