Abstract :
In addition to telephony service, new services appearance and new network function preparation to support them are become to be expected. This paper describes the system design of a new local area multi-service system, it can utilize the surplus capacities of a fiber-optic (FO) subscriber network. The new services proposed herein are narrowband digital services; channel capacity are N×B (B=64 kb/s). They are handled as leased circuits in local areas and expected to spur the growth of multimedia services
