  • Abstract
In the paper, the performance of a digital mobile radio channel in the presence of modulator impairments and slow Rayleigh fading is investigated. The modulation scheme is π/4-shifted differential quadrature-phaseshift-keying (DQPSK), and the receiver is considered to be differentially coherent. The modulator impairments considered are intersymbol interference (ISI), second and third order nonlinearities, and modulator imbalance. It is shown that ISI third order harmonic nonlinearity, and slow Rayleigh fading are the main contributors to performance degradation in this arrangement
