Abstract
A novel scheme for enhancing the fault ride-through (FRT) capability of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) is proposed in this paper. In addition, a coordinated reactive power control strategy for grid side and rotor side converters of DFIG is also proposed. This coordinated control aids rapid recovery of terminal voltage at the clearance of severe grid fault. Extensive simulation study is carried out employing PSCAD/EMTDC software and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed FRT scheme and reactive power control strategy.
