Abstract
Proliferation of both nonlinear and switched loads led to increasing both voltage and current harmonic distortion in industrial distribution systems. Harmonic mitigation is becoming a great concern for both electric utilities and customers. In this paper, the effect of different system parameters on the harmonic distortion levels is investigated. Comparing active and passive solutions for harmonic suppression and examining their sensitivity constitutes the main goal of this paper. The paper addresses the effects of switching power factor capacitors at different locations on the performance of the mitigation equipment
