Abstract :
It is shown that the conductivity of highly insulating liquids can be characterized with a high degree of accuracy using low-voltage square-wave equipment. Due to the sensitivity of the equipment, conductivity measurements can be performed at room temperature. It is experimentally shown that the conductivity (and hence the tan δ) of oils can be determined with confidence in a wide range of applied voltage (0.1 V to 100 V) and electrode gap (0.7 mm to 7 mm)
