Abstract :
This paper focuses on the alignment of the T&D engineering job functions with the overall eBusiness transformation strategy that more and more utilities are undertaking to meet competitive challenges and increase shareholder value. eTransformation leverages new capabilities enabled by Internet, eCommerce and mCommerce technologies to enhance customer services and increase revenue potentials while reducing operations costs. Through utility case studies, the paper discusses what eTransformation means to energy delivery utilities and how it affects the T&D engineering functions. It explains how engineering and operation functions are integrated with front office and back office functions using the new communication and information technologies to optimize the management of the utility customers, resources and network assets. It explores what T&D engineers should do to support the eTransformation and how they would be able to leverage it to improve the effectiveness of their jobs
