Abstract :
Most digital down-conversion schemes either require a designated intermediate frequency (IF), resulting in low implementational complexity, or permit the use of arbitrary IFs however requiring the signal to be sampled at unnecessary high rates. In the present paper, a digital down-conversion scheme is presented allowing a larger degree of freedom in the choice of the IF at low implementational complexity. By incorporating an all feedforward digital frequency correction unit with low acquisition time, it is well suited for packet-oriented transmission schemes. The proposed structure is discussed in detail and its parameters are optimized for a digital burst-mode noncoherent 4FSK receiver
