Abstract :
A method for estimating the bit-error rate (BER) of turbo codes called the Monte Carlo distance spectrum method is proposed. Testing this method shows that the estimated BER curves closely approximate the results of a Monte Carlo simulation alone for a wide range of signal-to-noise ratios.
