Abstract :
Fiber-optic systems, when deployed in subscriber loops, can drastically improve network capabilities. At the same time, service applications that are feasible and attractive for users are not so many at present. To cope with this, a fiber-optic transmission system for linking radio base stations to the mobile communication center is developed and its performance is evaluated. The introduction of this system yields two main improvements: the elimination of service quality issues such as dead zone and traffic imbalance, and optimum zone allocation to increase radio frequency utilization efficiency. This paper describes the major improvements in service quality and system reliability affecting the introduction of fiber-optic radio micro-cellular communication systems
