Abstract
Control of unstable processes with lightly damped poles and time delay is studied in this paper. A modified IMC structure with three compensators is adopted and the design of each compensator is discussed. Robustness of the structure is analyzed assuming that there is multiplicative uncertainty in the nominal model. The method is applied to a simple model and to the active control of a simulated combustor.
