Abstract :
This work is interested in the study of the flow and heat and mass transfers by forced convection in a cylindrical reactor filled with a granular medium, i. e. silica gel used as desiccant. In this purpose, we conceived and realized, within our research laboratory, a climatic blower with controlled temperature, moisture and air flow rate. This experimental installation has the advantage of allowing circulation of well regulated air characteristics. A preliminary study was conducted in order to assess the performances of the system in terms of air conditioning. We have, also, studied desorption steam phenomenon. The variations of the different characteristics in the exit of the desiccator are analyzed. Thus, the exploitation of this blower is very promising for the optimization of desiccant cooling installations, and so, for a better contribution to the control of energy.
