Abstract
In this paper we deal with an improved stop-and-wait ARQ protocol, whereby data blocks are sent in the form of sets containing a fixed number of identical copies. The protocol has a better throughput efficiency than comparable schemes, especially when the number of (identical) copies in each set is high. We also investigate the influence of combining several copies of the same block at the receiver side to make a decision, by means of a simple model, for two different demodulation strategies
