Abstract :
The diversity and number of power system monitoring devices installed within networks has increased greatly, resulting in increased data volumes requiring interpretation by engineers. A progressive approach to power system data retrieval, interpretation and information dissemination is presented offering significant time savings and enhanced utility of monitoring devices through dissemination of generated information. Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) alarms are retrieved and interpreted to identify incidents and events. This information is then further enhanced by the automatic retrieval and interpretation of digital fault recorder (DFR) records and travelling wave fault locator data records using intelligent systems employing knowledge based systems (KBS) and model based diagnosis (MBD) reasoning paradigms
