Title :
Total URD has become a reality with the submersible solid insulation transformer
Author :
Dupont, Andre ; Westrom, A.C.
Abstract :
A distribution transformer has been designed to be fully submersible in keeping with that attained for the balance of underground system components as the insulated conductor, splices, taps, fuses, switchgear, arresters The transformer has overload characteristics similar to that of an oil-filled pad transformer. Impulse characteristics meet the standards for 15 kV, 25 kV and 35 kV equipment. The advanced design was achieved do to the development of a new moisture impervious epoxy used for the encapsulation. The new transformer provides an opportunity for the industry to advance to a fully submersible system
