Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. It is generally agreed today that many applications of microwave energy in technology benefit drastically from an increase in the frequency of microwave power. The microwave power of the order of several or tens of kilowatts in continuous wave (CW) regime, required for practical use, can be provided at frequencies of about tens Gigahertz with gyrotrons only. During the last decade, a line of gyrotrons ranging in frequency from 24 GHz to 84 GHz with the output power from 3 kW to 15 kW CW, and a series of gyrotron-based systems have been developed by the Institute of Applied Physics (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) jointly with GYCOM Ltd (Russia).
