Abstract
The trend in business today is to place publishing tools at the disposal of the engineers, scientists, programmers, and other technical professionals. Providing technical professionals with online publishing tools shortens and simplifies publication cycles. It is argued that translating desktop publishing verbatim could be catastrophic if engineering and scientific professionals circumvent the technical communicators and rely solely on publishing systems to produce documents. The author reemphasizes the team approach required for developing quality documentation
