Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. Summary form only given as follows. A compact 50 kJ pulsed power system (PPS) has been designed and constructed The 50 kJ capacitor bank module (CBM) consists of a 22 kV 50 kJ capacitor, a vacuum switch, a crowbar circuit, a pulse shaping inductor and an energy dump circuit. The crowbar circuit consists of triggered vacuum switch (crowbar switch), trigger pulse generator, a crowbar resistor and a Rogowski coil. In our crowbar circuit, the Rogowski coil detects current maximum point and generates trigger signal for the vacuum switch. The crowbar circuit showed reliable operation features. In this presentation, we report the operation characteristics of our crowbar circuit and the electrical performances of the 50 kJ PPS.
