Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. Nonthermal atmospheric glow gas discharges are particularly attractive for many industrial and medical applications, largely because they do not need the usually indispensable vacuum system. While this significant advantage has been copiously demonstrated in numerous materials processing applications, there are comparably fewer studies on the generic characteristics of nonthermal atmospheric gas discharges. Therefore there is a real need to develop viable theoretical tools so as to improve the current understanding of nonthermal atmospheric gas discharges and their dynamic properties.
