Abstract :
We present structuring concepts for networked systems management and we discuss procedures and tools to build management systems which realize them. The concepts mainly deal with organizing and structuring the management task by introducing organizational units called domains and computational units for transforming management goals into concrete actions on resources. Moreover, an object model and corresponding support environment are described which enable management to be realized as object-oriented distributed application. The ideas presented in this paper are the results of the ESPRIT-II project DOMAINS (Distributed Open Management Architecture In Networked Systems)
