Abstract :
A description is given of the principles of a program for desktop computers, which are easily accessible to laboratory engineers. Thus the program had to be relatively simple and fast enough to allow response times of the order of a few seconds. The program was designed for the most common kind of systems, operating with a multimode laser diode, a single-mode fiber and direct detection with a pin or APD photodiode, but it can also be used for other systems with, for example, LEDs, graded-index fibers, or single-mode laser diodes. Most of the calculations in the program are carried out in the baseband frequency domain
