Abstract :
We design and fabricate a matched filter UWB receiver. The filter response is matched to power efficient UWB pulses transmitted from an optical UWB pulse generator. The matched filter is fabricated in microstrip technology as an electromagnetic bandgap device using a synthesis technique. The measured frequency response and the time domain outputs of the matched filter show close agreement with their targets. The output of the matched filter is close to an ideal matched filter response. Bit-error-rate (BER) confirm the superior performance of the matched filter receiver compared to a direct conversion receiver.
