Abstract
The computation of the dynamic responses of large time-variant structures are usually very time-consuming due to the fact that the system matrices had to be re-formulated and factorized in each integration time step. Based upon the relative nature of the net computing-concept, a parallel Newmark algorithm for such structures is developed in the PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) environment, with which high parallel efficiencies have been obtained in the practical applications in the dynamic response of the moving trolley/structure system of the large container crane.
