Abstract :
Parallel computations using MPI are applied to the analysis of supersonic duct-flow of weakly ionized plasma. The coupled problem of gas dynamics and electro-magnetics is treated to perform the analysis of magnetohydrodynamics. The analyzed duct area is divided into appropriate subdomains for efficient parallel processing of both gas dynamical and electro-magnetic calculations. Two-dimensional analyses are performed for a combustion-gas plasma in a pulsed MHD generator by using Hitachi SR2201 with distributed memory. The parallel computation using 128 or 256 PEs achieves the analysis 85 or 125 times as fast as the computation with 1 PE.
