Abstract :
This work intends to introduce a new type of piezoelectric smart active structure, in which two piezoelectric stacks (PZT) are used to actuate the output staff to move in two directions. The design theory and the configuration of the new smart structure are presented at first in this article. Based on the virtual work principle and Galerkin algorithm, the equivalent dynamic model of the new structure is deduced. Several simulations and experiments are carried out to testify the validity of the dynamic model. The characteristic comparison between the new smart structure and the traditional smart structure is discussed at last, and some advantages of the new structure are obtained.
