Abstract :
The increased network capabilities in B-ISDN is forcing an evolution in customer premises equipment (CPE) and signalling requirements. In order to allow users to make full use of the network capabilities without being limited by the delay in standardisation, a new CPE design concept is explored in the paper along with a discussion on the necessary development in B-ISDN signalling to support the CPEs
