Abstract
This work proposes a novel two-level delta-switch voltage source inverter (Δ-VSI) and the modulation principles that are used to operate it. The switching pulse patterns are presented for space vector modulation as well as for carrier based PWM modulation schemes. There, the requirements for the modulation signals computation are explained. Experimental and simulation results are presented in order to validate the proposed converter operation. Finally, a comparison is carried out regarding converter losses and common mode voltages for different modulation schemes. The results indicate advantageous increment in efficiency and noise level attenuation.
