  • Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. Dust formation due to the interaction between a hydrogen plasma and carbon wall has attracted a great deal of attention in fusion research, because it bring about the following two serious problems. Dust left in a fusion device are dangerous from the view point of safety, since they combine with a large amount of tritium. Their existence in the device also leads to deterioration of plasma confinement. Therefore, their growth suppression is an important issue to be solved for a large fusion device such as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) In order to study such issues, it is necessary to understand their formation kinetics. For this purpose, we have recently developed an ECR discharge reactor which simulates divertor plasmas. In this paper, we report on features of the reactor and preliminary experimental results regarding dust formation obtained using this reactor.
