Abstract :
A system that measures the 3-D floor reaction forces of the left hands, both legs, and buttocks and the side- and front-view images using two charge-coupled-device (CCD) cameras during the side-transfer motion have been proposed in order to clarify the side-transfer ability of spinal cord injury (SCI) patients. The purpose of the present study is to detect the body position during the transfer motion by the side- and front-view images in order to analyze the transfer motion. First, the wheelchair position was detected from the center position of the right back wheel and the gap angle between the platform and the wheelchair was detected from the edge position of both back wheels on the side- and front-view images. Next, the wheelchair size was measured by detecting the 11 points on the right side of the wheelchair using the side-view image. A simple human body model was proposed in order to detect the body position during the transfer motion. The body position is estimated by comparing the drawing of the human body model and the side- and front-view images.
