Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. Summary form only given. Sewage sludge is composed of organic materials, bacteria and mostly water. The object of the sewage sludge treatment is destroying cell membrane of the bacteria that contain digested organic materials. An arc discharge in water can produce shockwaves, ultraviolet radiation and radical species. Using the characteristics of arc discharge in water, we treated the sewage sludge. We used high voltage pulse power system to generate the arc discharge in the sewage sludge. The arc discharge was generated by applying a pulse voltage of V=15/spl sim/30 W to a stainless steel reactor. For effective treatment, we also used a coaxial and a ring shape coaxial reactor. An examination method of the sewage sludge treatment is to compare SCOD (Soluble Chemical Oxygen Demand) before and after treatment.
