Abstract :
Working collaboratively with colleagues in the Technical Communications Program at IUPUI, I developed and have continued to modify and teach a Web-based course, TCM 320-Written Communication in Science and Industry. The course is designed to maximize the benefits of computer-mediated communication to promote best practices in undergraduate teaching and learning. Reflecting on my experiences developing and teaching this course over three years, as well as literature related to online education and technology studies, I discuss several critical success factors and issues having to do with learner readiness, course design, instructional methodologies, and technology design and support
