Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. In this study, we examined the potentiality of boron nitride (BN) thin films as a protective layer in PDPs. It has unique properties allowing the possibility of this application. We synthesized BN thin films by the ion plating method and investigated the properties of these films such as optical transparency, second electron emission and plasma-erosion resistance. The properties of these films were strongly influenced by the processing parameters in ion plating process.
