Abstract
Summary form only for tutorial. This paper discusses an optical means for correcting deterministic impairments. Two main types of system impairments in optical links are enumerated: nondeterministic and deterministic impairments. Electrical and optical compensation which are often called equalization are used to overcome deterministic impairment systems.
