Abstract :
Many investigations have been conducted in the field of noninvasive blood-glucose concentration measurement yet; none seem to meet the standards of comfort, accuracy and safety. This paper presents the preliminary outcomes of our investigations into the potential of using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) principles for the noninvasive measurement of blood glucose level in humans. The initial phase of the research involved testing the feasibility of using NMR in measuring glucose concentration in water. Then, the method was modified to enable us to measure the glucose level concentration in humans. Various signal processing methods were tested to find the best algorithm that improves detection accuracy. Results obtained from two human subjects are used to demonstrate the feasibility and found to be promising with error varying between 3% and 14%.
