Abstract :
By using Karhunen-Loeve expansion and saddlepoint approximation methods, we show the optimal optical and electrical receiver bandwidth, optimal multilevel spacing, bit-error-probability bound, and the superior tolerance to the chromatic dispersion of 4-amplitude-shifted-keying format.
