Abstract
The authors report on the design of a three-axis single-point acoustic Doppler current meter. Designed for oceanic deployments on moorings, the current meter uses three 3.0 MHz acoustic beams oriented at 45 degrees from the vertical. The current meter is equipped with an integrated compass/tilt sensor, a thermistor, and battery and recorder capacity for four months of continuous operation. The authors report on the testing of the current meter in a tow tank and on a test bed mooring
