  • Abstract
    A 12-channel 10 Gb/s/channel optical module is designed and a solution for robust but easy to assemble optical system is also provided in this paper. The optical system is made up of a pair of 1×12 Tx (transmitter) and Rx (receiver) modules operating at 10 Gb/sec/channel . Such a 1×12 module will be capable of providing 120 Gb/s operations for military and commercial applications. The optical modules employed vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSEL) for the transmitter technology and p-i-n detector technology for the receiver.
